Katie North Set to Run at NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships

Women’s 6k run is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. ET

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Junior Katie North (Aurora, Ill.-Metea Valley) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's cross country team will compete at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships Saturday, Nov. 23. The women's 6k run is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. ET.

North reeled in All-Midwest Region honors following a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Winneconne, Wis. Saturday, Nov. 16, to qualify for the NCAA Championships as an individual.

Illinois Wesleyan has had five women previously qualify for the national championships as individuals – Jillian Cole, who finished in 74th place last season; Erin McCarey with a 21st place finish in 2015; Carmin Beck in 2013, who finished in 116th place; Kerry Devitt in 2009, who finished 74th at the national meet; and Melinda Sprague with a 33rd place finish in 2005.

In 2012, the Illinois Wesleyan women's cross country team finished 24th in the national NCAA Division III championship meet as IWU earned an at-large selection for the first time ever. Beck finished 217th in the 2012 national meet with a time of 23:38.0.

The Aurora, Ill. native will run as one of 56 individual qualifiers in Louisville, Ky. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Tom Sawyer State Park. The women's race will take place at 11:45 a.m. ET and can be followed via live stream or live results by clicking here.
