BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the Holiday Inn Express Classic Saturday, Oct. 26, with a sweep of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and and five-set setback to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
The Titans begin the day with a sweep of UW-Platteville by scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 25-18, before falling in five to UWO (25-23, 14-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13).
Illinois Wesleyan dominated the Pioneers in nearly every statistical category. IWU notched 43 kills to UWP's 29 and compiled a .261 attacking percentage compared to the Pioneers' .124 clip. The Titans also held the edge in digs (50 to 46) and blocks (7 to 6), while the Pioneers tallied six aces to IWU's five.
Junior
Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis HS) was a beast for the Titans, registering her 16th double-double of the season. McCall recorded a match-best 20 kills on 40 attempts for a .375 clip, while also adding a match-high 16 kills. Senior
Emily Steininger (Melrose Park, Ill.-West Leyden HS) chipped in a season-high seven kills and sophomore
Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS) racked up 26 assists, five digs, four kills, and two aces.
In IWU's second match of the day, sophomore
Courtney McAuliffe (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont HS) tallied 12 kills on a .476 clip. McCall added a 16-kill, 17-dig double-double, while Corey also notched a double-double with 43 assists and 10 digs. Juarez tied McCall for the team lead with 17 digs.
Illinois Wesleyan closes out the regular season Wednesday night, Oct. 30, at Elmhurst College. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
