WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University volleyball team saw its early lead slip away at Carroll University in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play Wednesday night, Oct. 2. The Titans won the first set before dropping the next three in a 3-1 setback.
The Titans won the opening set 25-21, but the Pioneers evened the match at one set apiece with a 25-14 win in set two. With IWU up 22-17 in the third set, Carroll rallied back with an 8-1 run to go up, 2-1. Illinois Wesleyan's rally fell short in the fourth, 25-20, to end the match 3-1 in favor of Carroll.
Junior
Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis HS) notched a match-best 17 kills on a .176 attacking percentage to go along with 17 digs. Sophomore
Amber Juarez (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal U High) registered a career-high 29 digs, and fellow sophomore
Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS) added a 24-assist, 12-dig double-double. Corey also contributed a career-high five aces and six kills.
Illinois Wesleyan continues CCIW play Friday night, Oct. 4, when the Titans host the Vikings of Augustana College. First serve of the Homecoming weekend clash is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Shirk Center.
