WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team dropped its first two matches at the Dig Pancini Classic hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Friday, Oct. 11. IWU fell in four sets to the University of La Crosse by scores of 25-11, 15-25, 25-17, and 25-18, before being swept by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (25-13, 25-20, 25-21).
Against UWL, IWU was led by double-double efforts by junior
Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis) and sophomore
Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS). McCall tallied a team-high 12 kills and added 13 digs, while Corey registered 29 assists and 14 digs. Sophomore
Amber Juarez (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal U High) notched a match-best 25 digs, while also posting a career-high six aces. Additionally, sophomore
Makenna Jacoby (Shorewood, Ill.-Minooka Community) chipped in a career-high nine digs.
McCall was also paced the Titans in kills against the Pointers, recording 13 on 41 attempts for a .195 attacking percentage. Juarez contributed 13 digs and three assists, while McCall added 12 digs to complete the double-double.
Illinois Wesleyan wraps up play at the Dig Pancini Classic against tournament-host UWW at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.
