Box Score WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team's upset bid fell short 3-1 at No. 23 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in its final match at the Dig Pancini Classic Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12. Junior
Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis HS) was named to the all-tournament team.
Illinois Wesleyan won the opening set 26-24, but UW-Whitewater rattled off 25-17, 25-23, and 25-15 wins in the next three sets to hold off the Titans in four.
McCall stuffed the stat sheet with 19 kills on a .190 attacking percentage, while also racking up 12 digs, two aces, and a block. Sophomore
Courtney McAuliffe (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont) and freshman
Evy Makris (Orland Park, Ill.-Sandburg HS) were also strong at the net. McAuliffe registered seven kills on a .294 clip, to go along with five blocks and an assist. Makris chipped in eight kills, on a .286 hitting percentage, one block and a dig.
Sophomore
Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS) orchestrated the IWU attack with 41 assists and fellow sophomore
Amber Juarez (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal U High) tallied a team-high 24 digs. Freshman
Grace Sanders (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington HS) notched 12 digs and Corey added 11 as four Titans finished with double-digit digs.
The Titans remain on the road Wednesday, Oct. 16, with a trip to the Windy City to take on North Park University in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
