BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The No. 10-ranked Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team won in four sets over Ohio Wesleyan and in five sets over Wisconsin-Whitewater in the Holiday Inn Express Classic I at the Shirk Center on Saturday, Sept. 8.
The Titans improved to 5-2 this season with the wins, downing Ohio Wesleyan by scores of 25-21, 16-25, 25-18, 25-14 and topping Wis.-Whitewater 13-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 15-8.
Chosen to the all-tournament team for Illinois Wesleyan were seniors
Tyler Brown and
Rachel Burkman and sophomore
Jessica McCall.
In the win over Ohio Wesleyan, Brown had 16 kills and 15 digs while Burkman had nine kills and nine digs and McCall had eight kills, eight digs and six blocks. Senior
Heidi Dague led IWU with a career-high nine blocks and
Leah Seielstad had 19 assists. Freshman
Madi Corey also added 15 assists.
Against the Warhawks, Brown had 16 kills and 30 digs while Burkman had 15 kills and McCall had 12 kills and 15 digs. Seielstad and Corey had 28 and 19 assists, respectively, and freshman
Bev Ryan had a team-high five blocks. Freshman
Amber Juarez had 24 defensive digs.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan plays at the University of Chicago at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. The Maroons are 8-0 so far this season.
