CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team, ranked No. 11 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III poll released today (Sept. 11), lost in four sets at the University of Chicago at the Ratner Center by scores of 21-25, 25-21, 15-25, 23-25.
The Titans are 5-3 overall while the Maroons, the first team listed below the AVCA top 25, improved to 9-0.
Sophomore
Jessica McCall and senior
Tyler Brown each had 16 kills to lead the Titans with senior
Rachel Burkman chipping in 15. McCall had her 16 kills in 36 tries with three miscues for a .361 hitting percentage.
Senior
Leah Seielstad had 30 set assists and made 19 defensive digs while Brown led the team with 28 digs and Burkman had 17. Freshman
Bev Ryan had a team-best three blocks and McCall added two. Freshman
Riley Cross had two service aces late in the victorious second set and freshman
Madi Corey made 10 assists.
The Titans hit .215 for the match with 55 kills in 177 attempts with 17 errors while the Maroons had a .266 hitting mark with 62 kills and 12 errors in 188 swings. IWU had a .354 hitting percentage in the deciding fourth set with 19 kills.
Audrey Scrafford had a match-best 22 kills and a .328 hitting mark to lead the Maroons.

Illinois Wesleyan plays in Greencastle, Ind., at the DePauw Tiger Invitational on Friday, Sept. 14, meeting the nation's No. 1-ranked team Calvin College at 6 p.m. ET before playing the host school at 8 p.m. ET.
