MEQUON, Wis. -- The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team defeated Concordia Wisconsin by a final score of 20-5 after shutting out the Falcons in the second half of action on Thursday, April 19.

Claudia Richman scored a career-high six goals, besting her previous career mark of five set against St. Mary's College (Ind.) on March 21, 2018. Richman is now tied atop the Titan record book with junior

Dani Engelbreit recorded a career-high 15 draw controls which bested her previous mark of 11 that was initially set against Rhodes College on March 4, 2018. Her 15 draw controls broke the Illinois Wesleyan single-game record which she already held.
With a win the Titans improved to 10-4 overall and now own a six-game winning streak. Concordia Wisconsin fell to 8-5 on the season after IWU snapped their four-game winning streak. Illinois Wesleyan's winning ways were reflected in the first NCAA Regional Rankings of the season in which the Titans are ranked No. 3 in the west region.
Senior
Claire Quist was the winning goalkeeper, making two saves and allowing three goals in the first 18 minutes of action. Freshman
Janaye Godfrey played the final 42 minutes making three saves and allowing two goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Riley Rooney scored each of IWU's first two goals of the game to give the Titans an early 2-0 lead.
- Concordia Wisconsin responded by going on a 4-2 run to tie the game up at 4-all. Each of IWU's goals during Concordia's stretch were scored by junior Grainne Kelly.
- With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Engelbreit sparked a 5-0 run from the Titans that included goals from junior Sam Bidlack, Richman, and Kelly to increase Illinois Wesleyan's lead to 9-4.
- Richman scored in the first 30 seconds of the second half to give IWU a 10-5 lead and the momentum.
- The Titans played lock-down defense in the second forcing 11 turnovers, allowing five shots, and holding the Falcons to a 4-of-10 performance on clearance attempts.
- Illinois Wesleyan outscored Concordia Wisconsin 11-0 in the second half.

Illinois Wesleyan return home on Saturday, April 21 for a 1 p.m. game against undefeated Carroll University. Carroll owns a 13-0 record this season and are tied for the conference lead with IWU and North Central. The Pioneers are led by Clara Jelacic and Michaela Johnson who have scored 58 and 50 goals respectively. Goalkeeper Shelby Schoob has allowed 5.46 goals per game to date.
