D3hoops.com Women's Top 25 Preseason Poll
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team has been tabbed No. 12 in the preseason poll released by D3hoops.com on Monday, Oct. 22.
The Titans received 315 votes in the poll. Defending champion Amherst received 21 first place votes and 617 points to lead the rankings, followed by Bowdoin with 577 points and two first place votes. Hope is third, followed by St. Thomas with one first-place vote.
Chicago, who will open the Titans' season at the Shirk Center on Nov. 11, is No. 7 and received the other first-place vote. No other College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin schools were among the top 25 but Wheaton was among those receiving votes.
The D3hoops.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. Points are awarded on a 25-24-23-22-etc. basis.
Illinois Wesleyan finished with an 25-4 overall record, went 15-1 in winning the CCIW regular season and tournament and played in the NCAA Division III tournament for the second straight season.
In addition to Chicago, four other top 25 teams are on the IWU schedule. The Titans will play No. 15 Wartburg on Nov. 16, No. 21 Wis.-Whitewater on Nov. 20 and No. 13 DePauw on Nov. 24 with the possibility of meeting No. 18 WashU on Nov. 25 as part of the Midwest Challenge tournament.
