No. 15 Illinois Wesleyan Volleyball Wins Twice in Wisconsin Tourney

MEQUON, Wis. -- The No. 15-ranked Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team won two matches on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Concordia (Wis.) Volleyball Invitational at the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse in Mequon, Wis.

The Titans have won 14 straight matches, adding to the school record, and improved to 19-5 overall, defeating Concordia (Wis.) in four sets (25-19, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20) and downing Wisconsin-Oshkosh in three sets (25-16, 25-20, 25-21).

Against Concordia (record now 16-8), senior Tyler Brown had a season-high 24 kills with 12 digs while senior Rachel Burkman had 16 kills and a team-high 17 digs along with three service aces and two blocks. Freshman Amber Juarez had 13 digs with four service aces.
Senior Heidi Dague led the Titans with five blocks and freshman Madi Corey paced the IWU attack with 28 assists as senior Leah Seielstad added 22.

The Titans hit .336, the third best of the season, with 61 kills and only 13 errors in 143 swings.

In the match vs. Oshkosh (now 14-13), Burkman was the team's top killer with 14 with Dague making nine and sophomore Jessica McCall having seven kills and two service aces.
Juarez led IWU with 14 digs as Brown had 11 and Burkman made seven. Seielstad had 17 assists and Corey had 16 with two service aces. Freshman Bev Ryan had a team-high three blocks.

Brown and Burkman were both selected to the eight-player all-tournament team.

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan hosts the Holiday Inn Express Classic III next weekend, playing Coe College on Friday night at 7 and facing Nebraska Wesleyan at 10 a.m. and Cornell College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
