No. 19 Illinois Wesleyan Volleyball Tops Rose-Hulman, Oshkosh

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The No. 19-ranked Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team won in four sets over Rose-Hulman and in three sets against Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Friday, Sept. 22, in the Barker Classic II at the Shirk Center.

The Titans improved to 9-4 by defeating Rose-Hulman, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20, and hit a blistering season-best .368 in topping Oshkosh, 25-20, 25-12, 25-15. IWU had 45 kills with only 10 errors in 95 attempts against the Titans.

Junior Rachel Burkman had 12 kills while junior Maddie Williams and junior Tyler Brown each had nine in the win over the Engineers. Brown, who started the match as libero, also had a team-high 25 digs, senior Kyleigh Block had 23 and Burkman added 13.
Kira Jackson had 25 set assists and freshman Caitlin Meyer gave up 15.

The Titans hit .117 in the four-set match with 52 kills and 31 errors in 179 attempts, the third-highest total of the season.

Brown had 10 kills and 14 digs to pace the Titans over the Oshkosh Titans while Williams had nine kills in 11 attempts for a .727 hitting percentage and Burkman made nine kills and had six digs.
Williams, who had three total blocks against Rose-Hulman, had four blocks in the second game.

Jackson had three service aces and a team-high 24 assists while Meyer had 13 assists and seven digs.

What's Next?
As Barker II wraps up, Illinois Wesleyan meets Tufts University at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and then plays Cornell College at 3:30 p.m. Go here for all tournament scores.
