Tyler Brown and
Maddie Williams were named to the all-tournament team for their performances this weekend.
The Titans improved to 11-4 by defeating Tufts, (25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 25-12), and Cornell, (25-16, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22).
When asked about the competition at this weekends tournament, head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown said:Â

"This was an extremely competitive tournament this weekend. I was proud of how our team stayed composed throughout the tournament regardless of whether we were up or down. Five matches within four days can be tough, but I felt the team stayed focused and continued to fight for every ball."
Brown led the team with 18 kills in the Titans win over Tufts. Williams contributed 13 and senior
Kyleigh Block tallied 11 kills for IWU. Brown also led the team in digs against Tufts with 19 while Block added 15 and freshman
Jessica McCall collected 11. Sophomore
Kira Jackson had 31 assists and freshman Caitlyn Meyer had 19 assists. Williams had six total blocks against the Jumbos. Block and junior
Rachel Burkman each had three service aces.
Illinois Wesleyan hit .254 in the four set match with Williams hitting a team-best .375 on 24 attempts.
Brown once again led the Titans in kills against Cornell with 17 on 34 attacks for a .353 attacking percentage. Burkman and Block each recorded 13 kills while Williams added nine. Brown and Block each earned their second double-double of the day with 19 and 17 digs respectively. Jackson had 30 assists in match two and Meyer had 21.
The Titans hit .293 as a team against the Rams with 59 kills on 147 attempts. IWU hit a whopping .429 in the first set against Cornell.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan continues play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin on Tuesday, September 16 with a match against North Park University. North Park currently holds a record of 7-4 after defeating UW-Stout in five sets on Saturday.
