Titan Volleyball Wins in Three Sets on Seniors' Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The No. 18-ranked Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team handled Wheaton in three sets on "Seniors' Night", winning by scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Shirk Center.

The Titans improved to 15-6 overall and 5-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Thunder slipped to 4-17 overall and 1-5 in the league.

Four players finished in double digit kills with seniors Kyleigh Block and Maisy Bowden each getting 11 and juniors Tyler Brown and Rachel Burkman each making 10 kills.

The Titans hit a gaudy .469 for the match, making 54 kills in 98 attempts with only eight errors. It is the second-highest hitting percentage in an IWU match, behind only the .473 mark set against Robert Morris-Peoria on Oct. 1, 2010 (30 kills in 55 attempts with four errors).
Wheaton had a .263 hitting percentage with 37 kills in 95 attempts with 12 errors.

Freshman Caitlin Meyer (26) and sophomore Kira Jackson (21) led the team in assists while Brown had a team-best 12 digs and Block made 10. Junior Maddie Williams had two solo blocks and one block assist to go with her seven kills.

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan travels to Oshkosh, Wis., for a weekend tournament where the Titans will meet No. 22-ranked Texas-Dallas on Friday at 5:30 p.m. IWU plays No. 7 Wis.-Whitewater on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. before meeting Wis.-Eau Claire at 3:30 p.m.
