No. 22-ranked Titans Drubbed By Augustana, 92-77

Rock Island, Ill. - The No. 22-ranked Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team was defeated by Augustana College on Wednesday, Jan. 11, losing by a final score of 92-77. A loss marks six straight losses to the Vikings, who came into tonight's matchup receiving votes in the d3hoops.com poll. Junior Brady Rose was the leading scorer for the Titans with 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting, his twelfth consecutive game scoring in double figures.

With a loss the Titans fall to 11-4 (3-3 CCIW) while Augustana improves to 11-3 (4-1 CCIW) overall.

Without senior Trevor Seibring in the line-up on Wednesday, senior Alec Bausch turned in a season-high 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting, one off his career-high of 16 set last season. Bausch also contributed three rebounds and four assists prior to fouling out.

Sophomore Nick Coleman provided the Titans with a boost off the bench on Wednesday, scoring 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Coleman is shooting 40.3 percent from deep this season and averages 2.06 3-pointers per game.

Senior Andy Stempel led the Titans with five rebounds, but the Titans were out-rebounded by Augustana 40-27. Junior Tyler Burdine started his first career game as a Titan.

Despite heading into halftime trailing by one, the Titans were unable to overpower Augustana in the second-half. The Vikings opened the half on an 8-0 run and didn't look back. IWU was able to bring the score within four points with 12:41 to play thanks to the duo of Stempel and Bausch, but Augustana rattled off a nine-point run to stymie the Titans once and for all.
