Volleyball Swept on Day Two at the WIAC-CCIW Crossover Tournament

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team was swept on Saturday, Sept. 24, finishing their weekend in Wisconsin with a record of 0-3. IWU was defeated by a pair of ranked opponents in No. 11-ranked UW-Stevens Point and No. 19-ranked UW- La Crosse. The Titans fell to UW-Stevens point in four sets (25-22, 20-25, 14-25, 21-25) while taking UW-La Crosse to five sets (26-28, 25-23, 16-25, 25-20, 13-15).

With the pair of losses the Titans fall to 9-4 on the season, with three losses coming at the WIAC-CCIW Crossover Tournament.

Junior Kyleigh Block and sophomore Rachel Burkman paced the Titan offense in their first match of the day against UW-Stevens Point. Block tallied 14 kills with a .229 attacking percentage while Burkman led the team with a .455 attacking percentage and 12 kills. Freshman Kira Jackson added 19 assists to her season total, leading the team.

On the defensive side of the ball, junior Maisy Bowden and sophomore Heidi Dague each registered three blocks. Sophomore Tyler Brown led the team with 23 digs while also contributing 10 kills.

Match two against UW-La Crosse showcased an improved offensive game from the Titans, but it wasnt enough to best the Eagles. Brown led match two with 17 kills alongside 19 digs, while Burkman had antoher strong showing with 12 kills and a .345 attacking percentage. Senior Colleen Rynne notched 30 assists, a season-high for her in 2016. Sophomore Anna Clausen led game two with two blocks for the Titans.

What's Next?
IWU opens conference action next week, facing off against North Park University on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the Shirk Center. North Park owns a record of 5-10 having lost four straight matches. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
