BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Scoring six second half goals, including four in the final 20 minutes, still left the Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team on the short end of a 9-7 loss to Carthage College at a rainy Tucci Stadium on Wednesday, April 20.
The Titans are 11-3 overall and 1-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Lady Reds improved to 9-4 this season and 3-1 in conference play.
Illinois Wesleyan trailed 5-1 after the first half with a
Sara Dust goal being the only Titan score but senior
Lauren Pavich scored all three of her goals in the second half, aided by two from sophomore
Clarke Rich and one from junior
Maggie Krause to narrow the gap.
Sophomore
Claire Quist made seven saves in the game as IWU outshot Carthage, 26-20, but the Lady Reds put 16 shots on goal compared to 15 for Illinois Wesleyan. Both teams were 10-of-15 in clear attempts but Carthage won 12 draw controls to six for IWU and collected 23 ground balls to 15 for the Titans.
