CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- A stingy defensive effort propelled the Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team to a 11-1 victory over Thomas More at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Ky. on Thursday, March 17.
The Titans are now 6-1 overall while the host Saints remain winless at 0-4.
Junior
Lauren Pavich led the Titans with three goals in the game while
Claudia Richman would assist on three of the 11 Titan goals. Freshman
Sam Bidlack would add two goals while
Maggie Krause,
Abby Kushina,
Clarke Rich,
Noelle Letourneau,
Dani Engelbreit, and
Mariah Smith all scored once.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Claire Quist anchored the IWU defense, improving to 6-1 this season while only allowing a single goal. The Churchville, PA. native is giving up an average of only six goals per game on the year after giving up five total in the last two games.
Jess Schell would also play a pivotal role in the Illinois Wesleyan win, causing a number of turnovers while also adding a draw control.
What's Next?The Titans will look to extend upon their best start in school history with a 4:30 p.m. contest at Aurora University on Tuesday, March 22nd. Illinois Wesleyan and Aurora have never met in women's lacrosse, as the Spartans are 1-3 this season heading into a road game at Augustana on Saturday.
