BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The No. 25-ranked Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team rallied from behind in the fifth set to claim a 3-2 win over Augustana by scores of 24-26,25-14,25-23,18-25,16-14 at the Shirk Center on Friday, Oct. 7.
The Titans improved to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Vikings slipped to 14-5 overall and ,2-2 in the CCIW.
Sophomore
Tyler Brown led Illinois Wesleyan with 18 kills while junior
Kyleigh Block had 17 and junior
Anne Cummings added 12.
Senior
Colleen Rynne led IWU with 31 assists and sophomore
Leah Seielstad had 27.
Block provided 27 digs, tying her career-high from two previous matches, with Brown making 19 and freshman
Raina Emery adding 17 digs.
Augustana's Taryn VanEarwage had a match-best 20 kills with 25 digs and teammate Hannah Lindaman had 26 assists.
The match statistics were as close as the game scores would indicate. IWU hit .218 in the five sets, making 68 kills on 211 total attacks with 22 errors while the Vikings had a .201 hitting percentage with 65 kills in 209 swings with 23 errors.
What's Next?
The Titans play two games on Saturday in the Barker Classic II at the Shirk Center - IWU meets Lincoln Christian at 10 a.m. and Plymouth State (NH) at 2 p.m.
