Titans Sweep Saturday Home Volleyball Matches

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team made short work of two opponents in the Barker Chevrolet Classic III on Saturday, Oct. 29, dispatching Nebraska Wesleyan and Dominican in three sets each at the Shirk Center.

The Titans, who improved to 19-9, beat Nebraska Wesleyan by scores of 25-23, 25-20, 27-25, and topped the Stars by scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-19.

Illinois Wesleyan sophomores Tyler Brown and Rachel Burkman were named to the all-tournament team along with Keegan Kollias and Rachael Lendermann of DePauw University; Diamond Boyd and Theresa Scheet of Cornell; and Malory Dahl of Nebraska Wesleyan.

Against Nebraska Wesleyan, sophomore Tyler Brown equalled her career-high with 27 kills while sophomore Rachel Burkman added 10 and junior Anne Cummings had eight kills.
Senior Colleen Rynne paced IWU with 22 assists and sophomore Leah Seielstad provided 19.
The dig leaders were Brown with 16, freshman Raina Emery with 15 and junior Kyleigh Block with 13.

In the win over Dominican, Brown had 20 more kills and Burkman had 13. Block, who had 18 digs, made 10 kills. Rynne had 31 assists and Seielstad had 21 and Brown got 20 digs with Emery making 16.

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan will close out its regular season with a home match against Elmhurst at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1 ... It is "Seniors' Night" at IWU as the six players being honored include Rynne, Lindsay Bullington, Sarah Udelhofen, Morgan Stenson, Lizzy Hawk and Alexa Cornish ... The No. 18-ranked Bluejays (21-10) can clinch a share of the CCIW regular season title and the right to host the CCIW Tournament with a win against the Titans.
