BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team had 47 kills and a .279 hitting percentage in a three-set upset of No. 18-ranked Elmhurst College at the Shirk Center on "Seniors' Night", Tuesday, Nov. 1.
The Titans won by scores of 25-16, 26-24, 25-16, and posted a 20-win season with a record of 20-9 overall and 5-3, tied for fourth in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. The Bluejays slipped to 21-11 overall and finished 6-2 in CCIW play, placing second. Millikin is the conference champion with a 7-1 mark after a three-set win over Carroll on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Tyler Brown had 20 kills to pace Illinois Wesleyan with junior
Kyleigh Block adding eight and sophomore
Rachel Burkman followed with six. Brown had her 20 kills on 40 attacks with six errors.
Senior
Colleen Rynne had a team-high 21 set assists and sophomore
Leah Seielstad had 19. Junior
Maisy Bowden led the Titans with three blocks while Brown and sophomore
Heidi Dague each had two blocks.
Defensively, IWU got 14 digs from Brown, 12 out of freshman
Raina Emery and 10 from Block.
IWU got 47 kills with 16 errors in 111 attacks for the ,279 mark while Elmhurst hit .122 in the match with 33 kills on 115 tries and 19 errors. The Bluejays hit only .053 in the first set and .057 in the third set.
Alli Rogers had 10 kills to lead Elmhurst while Hannah Nimrick had 22 assists and Amy Schryver had 12 digs.
