WHEATON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan and Wheaton played the final four sets separated by no more than two points in the final scores but the Thunder were on the winning end of the five-set match by scores of 25-18, 24-26, 23-25, 26-24, 15-13 at King Arena in Wheaton on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The loss leaves the Titans at 14-7 overall and 4-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Thunder improved to 9-15 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

IWU hit .169 in the match with 71 total kills in 189 attacks with 39 errors while Wheaton had a .184 hitting percentage with 55 kills in 158 swings with 26 errors. The Thunder hit .500 in the fifth set with eight kills in 14 tries.

Sophomore Tyler Brown had a career-high 26 kills to pace IWU while also adding 17 digs, equalling junior Kyleigh Block. Block also had 12 kills, three service aces and two blocks while sophomore Rachel Burkman had 13 kills.

Junior Maisy Bowden led the Titans with six blocks and provided 11 kills with sophomore Heidi Dague adding three blocks. Senior Colleen Rynne made 38 set assists and sophomore Leah Seielstad had 26 assists.
