Titans Pick Up First CCIW Victory

CHICAGO, Ill. - Sophomore Kyleigh Block led all players with 16 kills as the Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team picked up its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin victory at North Park in four sets at the North Park Gymnasium. 

IWU snapped a two-loss streak to improve to 11-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCIW while the host Vikings dropped their CCIW opener and are 7-9 overall. 

After taking the first set by a score of 25-23, Ill. Wesleyan would drop the second set by the same score. IWU would then rebound from the second set loss to take set three 25-23 before running away with the fourth set by a final of 25-10. 

Block added 13 digs to go along with her 16 kills while sophomore Anne Cummings added 11 kills and seven digs. Mary Rankin led the Titans with 21 digs while junior Colleen Rynne and freshman Leah Seielstad had 17 assists each. 

What's Next?
IWU plays Adrian College in the first of four games this weekend for the Titans in the six-team Barker Chevrolet Classic III on Friday, Oct. 2 at the Shirk Center. First serve against the Bulldogs is at 3:30 p.m.
