BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team's winning streak is at six games after two three-set wins on Friday, Sept. 18, in the Barker Chevrolet Classic II at the Shirk Center.
The Titans, who improved to 8-2 this season, downed Aurora, 25-21, 25-14, 25-19, on Friday afternoon before topping Franklin College, 25-15, 25-13, 25-17, on Friday night.
Freshman
Tyler Brown had 11 kills to pace IWU against Aurora while sophomores
Kyleigh Block and
Anne Cummings each had nine.
Senior
Mary Rankin provided a team high 14 digs with Block getting 11 and Brown adding nine.
Freshman
Leah Seielstad with 20 and junior
Colleen Rynne with 15 led the team in assists while sophomore
Maisy Bowden had a team-best three total blocks.
In the convincing win over Franklin, Block had 10 kills and 14 digs while Brown and freshman
Rachel Burkman each had nine kills.
Rankin had 21 digs and four service aces with Seielstad adding 12 digs.
Rynne (24) and Seielstad (13) were the Titan assist leaders with Block, Cummings and freshman
Heidi Dague each getting two blocks.
What's Next?Illinois Wesleyan continues to host the eight-team tournament on Saturday, playing Grinnell College at 10 a.m. and taking on Anderson University at 2 p.m.
