IWU Women's Lacrosse Loses First CCIW Contest

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team lost for the first time in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, falling 18-5 at Carthage on Saturday, April 11, at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.

The Titans lost for the second straight time and now sit at 6-6 this season and 1-1 in the inaugural season of the CCIW while the Lady Reds improved to 8-4 and 2-0 in conference play.

Carthage led at halftime 9-4 and held IWU to only one second half goal while scoring nine of their own. Maisie Cox and Maggie Krause each had two goals for the Titans with Clarke Rich scoring the other IWU goal. Freshman Abby Kushina had the only assist for Illinois Wesleyan.

Freshman Claire Quist played all 60 minutes in goal for the Titans and made six saves. 

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan returns home for a CCIW match at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tucci Stadium against Augustana. The Vikings are 11-1 overall and 1-0 in CCIW play this season and are averaging 18 goals per game.
