Box Score GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team couldn't overcome 25 turnovers in a 24-8 defeat coming at the hands of DePauw at Reavis Stadium in Greencastle, Ind., on Wednesday, April 1.
IWU is now 6-5 in their inaugural season while the Tigers improved to 5-4.
The Titans fell behind 2-0 in the opening three minutes of the game before scoring two unassisted goals by junior
Lauren Pavich and freshman
Clarke Rich to even the score at two with 20:22 left in the first period. DePauw would outscore the Titans 14-3 the rest of the first half to lead the IWU 16-5 at intermission. IWU saw its offensive struggles continue into the second half, getting outscored 8-3.
Pavich led the Titans with three goals, while freshman
Abby Kushina netted two.
Maisie Cox, Rich and
Maggie Krause would score the other Titan goals while Cox had the only IWU assist.
DePauw outshot the IWU 39-17, and collected 30 ground balls compared to 22 for the Titans. IWU would be outdone in draw controls 22-12, and only managed to record six successful clears (20 attempts).
What's Next?Following a week off, Illinois Wesleyan will look to improve to 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin traveling to Carthage for 1 p.m. match on Saturday, April 11.
