Titan Women's Lacrosse Loses First Game of 2015

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team lost for the first time ever, falling by a score of 15-4 to Berry College at Ford Field on Sunday, March 8.

The Titans are 3-1 overall while the Vikings improved to 5-1.

IWU got off to a quick start, scoring in the opening minute of the match from freshman Clarke Rich to take an early 1-0 lead. Berry would counter with a goal of their own before sophomore Maggie Krause would net her 13th goal of the year to give the Titans a 2-1 lead with 26:41 left in the first half. The Vikings would outscore the Titans 7-0 the rest of the half to take an 8-2 lead, limiting the Titans to only four shots in the half. 

Berry would come out of the locker room and score the first four goals of the second half to take a commanding 12-2 lead with 21:02 left in the match. IWU would only manage to put two more shots past the goalie, with both coming from Krause as the Titans would eventually settle with the 15-4 defeat.

Freshman Claire Quist played all 60 minutes in goal for the Titans, making 14 saves.

Illinois Wesleyan will continue thier 2015 spring break trip by heading to Oglethorpe Univeristy. First draw on Tuesday, March 10 is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (ET).
