Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee women's lacrosse team outshot the Illinois Wesleyan Titans, 35-11, leading to a 20-4 loss at Puett Field on Friday, March 13.
The Titans sit at a 4-2 record, while the Tigers improve to a perfect 5-0.
IWU would match each of the Tigers first two goals in the opening minutes of the game, tying the game at two apiece off a
Maisie Cox goal with 26:31 left in the first half. Sewanee would end the half on a 14-0 run to take a 16-2 lead at halftime.
The Titans would be held scoreless for the first 20 minutes of the second half until
Clarke Rich put her 10
th goal of the year past the goalie. IWU only mustered 11 shots in the match and did not have an answer for the Tiger offensive attack.
IWU's
Maggie Krause (2), Cox (1), and Rich (1) each scored goals with all four goals being unassisted. Krause's two goals now gives her a team-leading 19 on the season.
IWU collected 17 ground balls to Sewanee's 26, as the Titans were out-done on draw-controls 18-7.
