Meg Stanley set a pool and school record in the 1000 freestyle

Swim Teams Beat Lincoln College

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's swim teams defeated Lincoln College in a dual meet at Fort Natatorium on Friday, Jan. 30.

The men won eight of the nine individual events and beat the Cougars by a 127-64 score while the women were winners by a count of 162-34, taking first place in all nine of the individual events.

For the women, sophomore Meg Stanley won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:31.14, setting a new pool record and school record. Stanley bested her own school record of 10:35.03 and the old Fort Natatorium record was 10:43.64 by Wheaton's Becky Bird.

Junior Kirsten Slaughter won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.07 and also took first place in the 100 freestyle, setting a pool record with a time of 53.29 seconds.  The old mark of 53.94 seconds was held by DePauw's Caroline Bridges.

Junior Victor Lugg was a double winner for the men, getting first place in the 50 freestyle in 22.04 seconds and capturing first in the 100 freestyle with a swim of 48.54 seconds.

What's Next?
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin diving championships will be staged next weekend (Feb. 6-7) at IWU's Fort Natatorium and the tankers will swim next in the CCIW Championships on Feb. 12-14 at the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.
