JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan scored the game's first nine points and ran away with an 89-64 win over host Illinois College at the 16th annual Bill Merris Illinois College Tournament in Jacksonville, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 22. Senior Dylan Overstreet was chosen as the tourney "Most Valuable Player".

In addition to Overstreet, juniors Bryce Dolan and Ryan Coyle were chosen to the all-tournament team as the Titans improved to 2-1 this season while Illinois College is now 1-1.

Illinois Wesleyan, who had 11 players in the final scoring column, led by a 51-32 score at halftime and led by as many as 31 points at 87-56 with 3:23 left in the game.

The Titans had 21 assists in the game with only seven turnovers and IWU held a 42-29 lead in rebounds and collected 12 offensive boards.

"With 21 assists it shows we really moved the ball around well and our post players did a good job in making decisions," IWU head coach Ron Rose said in a postgame radio interview. "Defensively we played the first half with a lot of enthusiasm. We got contributions from a lot of guys and made progress this weekend, playing with much more purpose."
