Women's Soccer Scores Four in Shutout of Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. – Holding its opponent scoreless has become a habit for the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team, as the Titans defeated Earlham College, 4-0, at Matlack Field Saturday (Sept. 28) for the third-straight shut out game.
 
IWU now poses a record of 6-1-2, while the Quakers drop to 1-5-1.
 
The Titans saw most of their offensive action in the first half, starting off strong when freshman Amanda Kaiser connected with the back of the goal, assisted by Alison Seger, in the 15th minute to put the score at 1-0.

Just over five minutes later, sophomore Mary Kate Schmidt successfully shot the balls past Quakers' goalkeeper A.J. Johnson with 20:52 on the clock, extending the IWU lead to 2-0.
 
Before the halftime buzzer, sophomore Sydney Fox scored the Titans' third goal, assisted by Jenna Baker, with 44:04 on the game clock, closing the half ahead, 3-0.
 
Freshman Cassidy Tomkins scored the final goal for the Titans in the 62nd minute to secure the victory at 4-0.
 
IWU goalie Zoie Samaan had two saves with four shots faced, while Johnson saved 12 in the 31 shots faced for Earlham.
 
The Titans will kick off College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play against Millikin University on Wednesday (Oct. 2) at Neis Field in Bloomington, Ill., at 7 p.m.
