BALTIMORE, Md. - Senior guard
Colleen McMahon was chosen as the tournament's "Most Valuable Player" as Illinois Wesleyan beat Salisbury 90-72 to win the title of the Johns Hopkins Mike Durgala Memorial Tournament in Baltimore, Md., on Sunday, Nov. 17.
McMahon scored 23 points in the title game as Illinois Wesleyan rallied from a 12-point second half deficit. The Titans trailed 54-42 with 18:06 left in the game and came back to claim the lead at 63-62 on a 3-pointer by
Samantha Ellsworth with 9:29 left.
IWU outscored Salisbury 48-26 in the second half after trailing 46-42 at intermission.
Senior forward
Shelby Jackson, who scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds, was also chosen to the all-tournament team along with McMahon.
The Titans had a 42-33 rebounding lead in the game and forced 27 turnovers while committing 22.
