Titans Shut Down Carthage For Senior Day Game

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team seniors Zoie Samaan, Kristina Dolak, Hannah Ketterling, and Tillie Bill went out with a bang in their final regular season match at Neis Field, defeating Carthage, 3-0, Saturday (Oct. 26) afternoon.
 
The Titans improve to 11-2-4 and 4-1-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin on Senior Day, while the Lady Reds stand at 11-4-0 and 4-2-0 in CCIW play.
 
IWU scored all three goals in the first period, beginning when Bill knocked in the first goal, assisted by Brie Siebert's corner kick, with 14:27 on the clock.
 
Sydney Fox successfully shot from the top of the box into the upper corner to set the score at 2-0 in the 40th minute.
 
Just moments later, Jenna Baker crossed from into the box and scored for the final goal of the game. The assist from Cassidy Tomkins and Alex Partipilo secured the 3-0-shutout win.
 
IWU's Dana Jourdan (11:19) and Samaan (78:41) split time in the goal, but Samaan saw the most action, accounting for three saves. Carthage's goalkeepers Michelle Balcerzak tallied no saves, while Abby Alm had five.
 
The Titans will travel to Naperville, Ill., to face North Central Saturday (Nov. 2) at 12 p.m. for the final regular season game of the season before the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships.
