IWU Women Breeze to 28-Point Win Vs. Concordia Chicago

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team forced 39 turnovers and made 21 steals in coasting to an 87-59 win over Concordia Chicago on Friday (Dec. 28) at the Wartburg Holiday Tournament in Waverly, Iowa.

•  Illinois Wesleyan improved to 6-4 with the win while Concordia Chicago fell to 2-8.

•  The Cougars jumped out to a 9-2 edge and had an 18-14 lead with 9:14 to play in the first half before Illinois Wesleyan went on a 29-9 run the rest of the period to take a commanding 43-27 lead at halftime.

•  The Titans' biggest lead was 29 points at 84-55 with 3:04 to go in the game.

•  The Titans shot 37.7 percent from the field (29 of 77) and made 8 of 30 3-point efforts (26.7). IWU was a sparkling 21 of 24 from the free throw line (87.5 percent). The Cougars finished at 47.8 percent from the field (22 of 46) and made 11 of 16 free throws (68.8). Concordia was 4 of 14 from beyond the 3-point stripe (28.6).

•  Illinois Wesleyan outrebounded Concordia, 40-37, and the Titans committed 16 turnovers. IWU bench players contributed 34 points in the victory.

Who's Next?
The Titans will play at 3 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 29) against host school Wartburg College in the championship game of the Wartburg Holiday Tournament in Waverly, Iowa. Wartburg improved to 7-3 with its fifth straight win, a 61-56 decision over Northwestern College (Minn.). It will be IWU's final non-conference game of the season.
