BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's swimming and diving team lost by a 109-97 score and the women's team lost 193-96 in a dual meet against Carthage at IWU's Fort Natatorium on Saturday (Nov. 10).
Junior
Marcus Duval won two events for the IWU men, taking the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:27.28 and winning the 200 yard individual medley in 2:01.93.
Duval also swam a leg on the victorious 400 free relay team and got second place in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.61).
Sophomore
Nathan Douglas won the 1-meter diving (177.15 points) and the 3-meter diving (173.70).
Freshman
Victor Lugg got second place in three events - 50 freestyle (23.40), 100 freestyle (51.79) and 200 freestyle (1:55.73).
Senior
Katie McHugh and freshman
Kirsten Slaughter were double winners for the Titan women. McHugh won the 200 butterfly (2:14.99) and 100 butterfly (1:01.53) while getting second in the 200 individual medley (2:18.75).
Slaughter won the 50 freestyle (25.25 seconds), 100 freestyle (54.92 seconds) and got second in the 200 freestyle (2:00.58).
Freshman
Lauren Dineen-Griffin also got first in the 1000 freestyle (10:52.34) and second in the 500 freestyle (5:23.52).
Sophomore
Danielle Owerko was the winner of the 1-meter diving event with 199.25 points and the 3-meter diving (189.15).
The Illinois Wesleyan Invitational will be held next Saturday at Fort Natatorium, beginning with diving at 10 a.m. and the swimming events at 1 p.m.
