BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Titans and Thunder spent a half almost scoreless, before Wheaton found action in the goal, shutting out the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team, 4-0, Saturday (Oct. 20) night on Neis Field.
IWU now poses a 6-8 record and 3-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin reocrd, putting the Titans in third on the league standings list. Wheaton (14-2-2) is second in the CCIW with a 4-0-1 record, just behind first place Augustana.
The game went scoreless with just under five minutes to halftime when the Thunders' Kristin Rauh chipped the ball in the top corner of the goal, assisted by Keri Shannon, to give Wheaton the 1-0 lead.
Wheaton opened the second half on a similar note, scoring within the first minute and a half. Ally Witt crossed within the box to get the ball past IWU goalie
Zoie Samaan, taking the 2-0 advantage.
Witt knocked in another goal with 60:05 on the clock, assisted by Leah DeMoss to put the Thunder up, 3-0.
Just over five minutes later, Sarah Guidera knocked back a goal for Wheaton heading the ball over Samaan to jump ahead of the Titans by four.
Samaan played 66:05 minutes in the goal, marking five saves.
Amanda Macuiba played the first 22:55 minutes for the Titans, making one save. Wheaton's Graham played all 90 minutes in the goalie box, tallying no saves.
The Titans will return to action Tuesday (Oct. 23) against Aurora in Bloomington, Ill., at 7 p.m.
