BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's swimming and diving teams were convincing winners at Principia on Saturday (Jan. 7) with the men winning by a 171-22 score and the women claiming a 195-21 victory in the dual meets at IWU's Fort Natatorium.
Sophomore
Lizzie Egan was a three-event winner for the IWU women, taking first in the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke, while senior
Angela Lugg and sophomore
Rae Brattin each won two events. Lugg claimed the 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley and Brattin was the winner of the 1- and 3-meter diving.
Junior
Katie McHugh (500 freestyle), freshman
Natalie Statham (50 freestyle) and sophomore
Jill Kawasaki (1000 freestyle) won their events and the IWU 200 medley and 200 free relay teams were also victorious.
Four Illinois Wesleyan men placed first in two events - sophomore
Marcus Duval in the 100 butterfly and 1000 freestyle, senior
Sam Mitchell in the 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley, sophomore
Kevin Skrabacz in the 200 and 500 freestyle and freshman
Nathan Douglas in both the 1- and 3-meter diving.
Senior
Tommy Gilbert (100 breaststroke), junior
Shane Mrozek (100 backstroke), and senior
Mikey Firth (50 freestyle) were single event winners while the men's 200 medley and 200 free relay teams were first place finishers.
