BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 nonconference match at home to Wisconsin-Whitewater on Thiursday, Sept. 15.
The Titans (now 3-2-0) got a goal from sophomore midfielder
Angelo Catalano on assists from freshman midfielder
Jared Krebs and sophomore defenseman
Declan Geraghty at the 35:31 mark to tie the game at 1-1.
The Warhawks (1-4-0) scored first on a goal by Ryan Boyd with an assist to John Gottwald at the 20:02 mark of the first half.
Boyd had his second goal of the match and the game-winner on a penalty kick at 51:41.
IWU junior keeper
Tim Hegwood made five saves and his Whitewater counterpart, Aaron Sesselman, made four. The Titans were outshot 18-8, including by a 10-4 margin in the final half.
Illinois Wesleyan will play again at home at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, against the University of Chicago, currently No. 7 in the Central regional rankings.
