Junior Andrea Peterson was chosen as the “Most Valuable Performer” and junior Katie Bell and freshman Gracie Nafziger shared the “Most Improved” honor for the 2010-11 Illinois Wesleyan women's swimming team.

Peterson was a Division III All-American as she finished fifth in the 200 backstroke (2:01.87) and fourth in the 100 backstroke (55.87 seconds) at the NCAA Division III swimming and diving championships, held at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn., from March 23-26.

Earlier she was named the “Most Oustanding Participant” in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin meet as she won the 200 backstroke, the 100 backstroke and was on the winning 200 medley relay team.

Sophomore Katie McHugh, freshman Lizzie Egan and junior Angela Lugg earned honorable mention All-American status when they joined Peterson on the 800 freestyle relay team to finish 14th in the national meet with a school-record time of 7:40.56.

Titan head coach Teresa Fish awarded letters to 27 women, including 24 who will return for 2011-12. The letterwinners are:
