ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The 20th ranked Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team led by 16 in the first half but a basket with 2 seconds left gave the No. 3-ranked Augustana Vikings a 69-67 win in Rock Island on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
Illinois Wesleyan fell to 13-5 and 4-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while Augustana improved to a school record 18-0 and 7-0 in the conference.
The Titans led by 15 at 30-15 with 8:17 to play in the first half and built up a 16-point lead at 38-22 with 2:48 to go before Augustana rolled off the final eight points of the period to cut IWU's lead to 38-30 at recess.
The Vikings battled back to tie the game at 52-52 with 8:45 to play on a 3-pointer by Bryant Voiles but the Titans went on a 7-1 run to take a 59-53 lead with 6:16 to play.
Augustana then scored the next 14 points to go on top, 67-59, with 2:07 to go.

Sean Johnson and Sexauer again with 9 seconds left, the Titans tied the game at 67-67 got within two at 67-65.
But the Vikings got a rebound basket by Kyle Nelson on a miss by Brian DiSimone to provide the winning basket.
Illinois Wesleyan was led by the 13 points of Sexauer and 12 from junior
Jordan Zimmer.
The Vikings got 17 points from Voiles, 15 out of DiSimone and 14 from Nelson.
Augustana held a commanding 38-25 edge in rebounds with a game-high nine from Nelson. The Titans were led on the glass by junior
John Koschnitzky.
Illinois Wesleyan made 26 of 52 from the field (50.0 percent) and connected on eight of 21 3-point free tries (38.1 percent) while making seven of eight free throws (87.5 percent).
The Vikings shot 44.8 percent (26 of 58) from the field and made six of 19 (31.6 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc. Augustana made 11 of 19 free throws (57.9 percent).
Illinois Wesleyan will next host Carthage at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29. The Red Men improved to 11-7 overall and are also 4-3 in the CCIW after a 69-50 home win over North Park on Jan. 26. Carthage handled IWU, 73-52, back on Jan. 8.
