Titan Swim Teams Win Dual Meet at Millikin on Jan. 21

Illinois Wesleyan at Millikin Swim Meet - Complete Results

DECATUR, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's swim teams claimed victories in a dual meet at Millikin in Decatur, Ill., on Friday, January 21.

The men's team won by a score of 147-40 and the women's team won, 149-52.

Sophomore Brent Caras and junior Tommy Gilbert were double winners for the men's squad - Caras took first in the 200 freestyle (1:49.57) and the 500 freestyle (5:07.35) while Gilbert won the 200 backstroke (2:09.55) and the 200 breaststroke (2:22.40).

Other individual winners for Illinois Wesleyan men were freshman Gabriel Chanez in the 1000 freestyle (11:16.89), sophomore Will Asmussen in the 50 freestyle (24.25 seconds), freshman Marcus Duval in the 400 individual medley (4:16.45) and junior Mikey Firth in the 200 butterfly (2:06.21).

Senior Lauren Hansen and freshman Katie McHugh were double winners for the women - Hansen took first in the 400 individual medley (4:59.80) and the 500 freestyle (5:39.70) and McHugh won the 100 freestyle (56.95 seconds) and 200 freestyle (2:02.49).

Other individual winners for IWU women were junior Sydney Hertel in the 1000 freestyle (11:32.49), junior Angela Lugg in the 50 freestyle (26.04 seconds), and sophomore Kate Haynes in the 200 backstroke (2:21.45).

Both the IWU relay teams were winners in the 400 free relays and the 400 medley relays.

The Titans host DePauw in a dual meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Fort Natatorium.
