IWU Women 2-1 Winners at Carthage; Host Augie Wednesday

KENOSHA, Wis. - Goals by senior Carlie Hoekstra and freshman Tillie Bill gave the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team a 2-1 win at Carthage on Sunday, Oct. 31.

The Titans improved to 16-1-1 this season and finished 5-1-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. The No. 2 seed in the CCIW tournament, IWU will host No. 3-seed Augustana (13-1-4, 4-1-2 CCIW) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, in the CCIW semifinals.
 
Hoekstra opened the scoring at 15:44 on an unassisted goal, kicking in a rebound from a dropped ball by Carthage keeper Kelsey Harrington.

With her 13th goal of the season, Bill's game-winner came at the 68 minute mark, putting the Titans ahead 2-0, and Carthage's only tally came at the 83 minute mark on a header goal by Taylor Capek off an assist from Katy Rosenbrook.

IWU senior keeper Alli Novak made five saves and Harrington made seven as the Titans outshot the Lady Reds, 20-11, and had seven corner kicks to none by Carthage, who fell to 7-9-3 overall and 0-6-1 in the league.
