BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 2 ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team ran to a 108-83 win over Olivet Nazarene on November 24 at the Shirk Center, setting a school single game record with 64 rebounds.
The old record was 61, set against MacMurray on November 28, 2004.
The Titans are tied for No. 2 in the November 24 USA Today/ESPN Division III coaches' poll, received 21 points from sophomore
Kylie Castans and 20 points from senior
Christina Solari in improving to 4-0 this season. Junior
Sarah Cotner came off the bench to score 14 points for the Titans, who offset 41 turnovers with 52 percent shooting from the field (42 of 82).
The pressing Titan defense forced 42 turnovers by the Tigers (2-4), who managed just 40 percent from the field (31 of 78). Nikki Dier had 14 points and Simone Coburn had 13 to pace Olivet Nazarene.
Fifteen players grabbed at least one rebound for IWU en route to the single game record, led by eight from Castans, seven from
Christina Solari and six from freshman
Mackenzie Floyd.
Illinois Wesleyan jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the game, held a 19-point advantage at intermission, 53-34, and led twice by as many as 30 points in the second half.
Illinois Wesleyan is tied with Amherst at No. 2 in the USA Today/ESPN Division III coaches' poll and trails only Hope. Former No. 1 Washington U. fell to No. 6.
