Titans Coast to 39 Point Win in Tip-Off Tournament Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team improved to 3-0 with a convincing 101-62 win over Johnson & Wales on Nov. 21 in the first round of the IWU Tip-Off Tourney,

The Titans, who will host Washington U. at 4 p.m. Nov. 22, got 21 points and and seven rebounds from Doug Sexauer while sophomore Jordan Zimmer contributed 15 points with all five baskets coming from beyond the 3-point arc. IWU also got eight rebounds and seven assists along with four points from junior guard Sean Johnson.

Junior Duncan Lawson had 13 points and sophomore Ryan Connolly scored 11 as the Titans shot 55 percent from the floor (40 of 73). Freshman Kevin Reed got seven boards in eight minutes off the bench as Illinois Wesleyan outrebounded Johnson & Wales by a 53-23 margin.

Lamonte Thomas scored 21 points for the 0-3 Wildcats.

The top-ranked Washington U. Bears posted an 85-68 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University in the opening game of the 2009 Titan Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday. Senior Aaron Thompson had a game-high 28 points for the Bears.
