Katie Gonzales, who has experience at the Division III and Division I levels of college sports, joined the Illinois Wesleyan athletic department in August of 2019. She was promoted to Associate AD for Communications & Marketing in 2025 and oversees the communications and marketing efforts for all 29 of IWU's athletic programs along with the NIL and sponsorships.

Gonzales is the sport administrator for women's golf, men's lacrosse, men's and women's wrestling, while also serving as co-administrator for men's golf. In the communications office, she is the primary contact for football, men's and women's basketball and softball. 

Nationally, Gonzales is an active member of the College Sports Communicators, serving on the Executive Board in the Presidential rotation. She is slated to become the second Division III member to lead the organization in its 68-year history. Additionally, Gonzales is on CSC's Professional Development and Academic All-America committees. For the 2025-26 academic year, she will serve as President of D3SIDA, the NCAA Division III cabinet.

Gonzales, who moved into the role of chair for the Academic All-America committee in the fall of 2023 is also a member of the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators, Minority Opportunities Athletic Association and Women Leaders in College Sports. 
 
Prior to joining IWU, she spent four years at Division I Eastern Michigan University, serving as the primary contact for women's soccer, women's basketball, swimming and diving, and softball as well as the secondary contact for football and volleyball as a graduate assistant and assistant director. She also spearheaded the department's creative content efforts and social media strategies.

In addition, she has been a part of the official stat crew for numerous Mid-American Conference football, basketball, and softball championships as well as several NCAA men's soccer regionals and an annual 25-team softball tournament.
 
From 2011 to 2015 Gonzales attended Loras College and was a student intern in their sports information office before becoming the school's assistant director of athletic communications as a senior. Gonzales helped relaunch the Loras athletics web site, increasing the coverage of the school's 23 athletic programs. 
 
Gonzales graduated from Loras in 2014 with a double major in sport management and mathematics and received her master's degree with honors in sport management from Eastern Michigan in 2017.

Gonzales and her wife Catherine reside in Springfield, Ill.
