Aaron Levin enters his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Illinois Wesleyan men’s basketball program in 2024-25. 

He came to IWU after a three-year stint as assistant coach and assistant strength and conditioning coordinator at his alma mater, Grinnell College. During his time there, the Pioneers accumulated a 32-17 record and made one appearance in the Midwest Conference Tournament.

In 2019-20, Grinnell led the country in blocked shots per game (6.6) in 2019-20, and was slotted second in scoring with an average of 108.7 points per game. 

The 2018-19 campaign saw the Pioneers tie the program record for wins with 19. Nationally, Grinnell ranked second in Division III in scoring (117.5 ppg), and set the NCAA single-game records for three-point field goals attempted and made.

Prior to his return to his alma mater, Levin coached at the high school basketball level. He spent two seasons at William Howard Taft High School in Chicago, spending the first season as a varsity assistant coach and the second as the head varsity coach. He began his coaching career at Lehman High School in Bronx, N.Y. After serving as an assistant coach, he was promoted to interim head coach during the 2014-15 campaign. In his interim role, Levin led the Lions through the Bronx’s top classification in the New York City Public Schools Athletic League.

Levin played in 64 games for Grinnell from 2010-14. He served as captain as a senior, averaging 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest before suffering a season-ending injury. Over the course of Levin’s career, the Pioneers played in four straight Midwest Conference Tournaments with two championship game appearances. A two-time Academic All-Midwest Conference selection, Levin’s graduating class is the winningest class in men’s basketball program history (.750).

Levin graduated from Grinnell with a bachelor’s degree in English. He earned his master’s in Education Leadership from Concordia University-Portland. He currently resides in Bloomington.
