Nick Chiodo began coaching at Illinois Wesleyan University in 2018, working as an assistant with the defensive backs.

Prior to joining IWU, Chiodo was an assistant at Bloomington Central Catholic High School, where he coached special teams, quarterbacks and defensive backs for a team that finished 8-1 in the regular season, won the conference championship and were in the IHSA state playoffs.
Prior to coaching at CCHS, Chiodo was an assistant at Normal University High.

Chiodo earned a total of 12 letters in football, basketball and track at University High School. A four-year starter on the football team, he earned all-conference and all-area honors and was nominated for WJBC Radio "Player of the Year" for three straight seasons. Recruited for Illinois State University, Chiodo was "grey-shirted" after one season and turned his focus on coaching.

He comes from a long line of football players and coaches:
• Tom Chiodo (father) played football as defensive lineman at Illinois Wesleyan (earned three letters)
• Hal Chiodo (uncle) played football at Illinois Wesleyan on teams with Norm Eash and earned three letters; member of the IHSA coaches' Hall of Fame
• Mark Chiodo (uncle) played football at Illinois Wesleyan (earned one letter)
• Frank Chiodo (grandfather) coached at University High for 35 years and is a member of the IHSA coaches' Hall of Fame; he was a quarterback at Illinois State University and is in the ISU Hall of Fame for basketball and football

As the safeties coach in 2018, the Titans defense lead the CCIW with 17 interceptions. Chiodo also coached all-American Safety, Trevor Staley (Lake Zurich, Ill.) who was also chosen to the second team of Associated Press Little All-America squads, named D3football.com for the second straight year. Staley was also named the team’s defensive Most Valuable Player. The Titans finished 8-2 overall and won a share of the CCIW Conference Championship with an 8-1 record, providing the program back-to-back Conference Championship titles and their overall 16th CCIW Conference Championship.
