Josh McWhorter is in his first year with Illinois Wesleyan as a defensive backs coach in the 2014 season.
A graduate of Bloomington, Ill., High School, he played on teams that reached the semifinals in 2001 and were state runners-up on 2002. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army, including a year-long combat tour as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State in business communiation with a minor in sociology while serving as an assistant coach at Bloomington High from 2009-13. McWhorter is now attending ISU working on a second bachelor’s degree in secondary English education.
