BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team returns to Jack Horenberger Field for a midweek battle, Tuesday, April 7, as it welcomes Illinois Institute of Technology before heading to Butterfield Park to face Elmhurst University Wednesday, April 8.

After a three-game set in Waukesha, Wis, the Titans enter the week with a 6-15 mark and an even 3-3 stamp in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play, most recently dropping a series against Carroll University. Sophomore Ben Ford (Napperville, Ill.-Waubonsie Valley) enjoyed a big weekend in Wisconsin going 6-for-14 with a pair of runs batted in and a triple. Ford moved into the top spot on the team in batting average at .360. He is one behind sophomore AJ Weller (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo) in hits with 31. Weller boasts a .356 average in 90 at bats. He added six hits in the series against the Pioneers.

On the mound for IWU, senior Will Davidsmeier (Virginia, Ill.-Beardstown) leads the team in earned run average as one of three members to meet the minimum requirements. He has generated a 5.79 ERA in six appearances, three being starts. Sophomore Cade Addis (Fairbury, Ill.-Praire Central) has shined out of the Titan bullpen. His two appearances on the year have come in the past week and a half  working 5.1 innings. He has limited opponent bats, allowing three hits and striking out five, while not allowing a run.

Illinois Tech enters Tuesday's game with an 8-13 record, after dropping a doubleheader against Milwaukee School of Engineering, Friday, April 3. The Scarlet Hawks have faced a pair of CCIW teams in Elmhurst and North Central. They split with EU in early March and dropped a 10-3 contest to NCC, March 22. Tuesday will be the first meeting between IWU and IIT in over 20 years as the last one came in the 2005 season. The 1-0 affair went in favor of the Scarlet Hawks, scoring its lone run in the sixth inning.

Illinois Wesleyan visits Elmhurst Wednesday, April 8, with the Bluejays sporting a 6-16 mark. Since entering CCIW play March 29 against Millikin, EU is 0-4 against league opponents after being swept by Augustana College over the weekend. The Titans and Bluejays have met 107 times since 1988 with the Titans holding a commanding 80-27 advantage. Head coach Michael Kellar is a perfect 3-0 against Elmhurst, sweeping the Bluejays in the regular season a year ago. The Titans put up a total of 35 runs scored, posting double-digit runs in every game. In Elmhurst, Ill. IWU is 0-4 in its last four tries at Butterfield Park, with the most recent game coming in 2024.

The Green and White and Illinois Tech will square off at 4 p.m. at Horenberger Field, Tuesday, April 7, with Wednesday's game against Elmhurst taking place at 3 p.m. at Butterfield Park in Elmhurst, Ill.
