CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team was well represented with five Titans on the All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin teams, announced by the league Tuesday, April 28.

A trio of seniors in Billy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel), Karsten Nordlie (Roscoe, Ill.-Hononegah), Noah Dretzka (Delafield, Wis.-Kettle Moraine), and junior Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) were named to First Team All-CCIW. Senior Michael Rocco (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) represented IWU on the second team. Senior Sam Scott (Worthington, Ohio-Thomas Worthington) was IWU's recipient of the CCIW RESPECT award.

Billy McHugh earns his second straight First Team All-CCIW honor. The senior co-captain led the IWU defense with 10 caused turnovers, and added 13 ground balls. He tallied two points on one goal and an assist. His average of 2.50 caused turnovers per game ranked fourth in the conference. The defensemen, who transferred in prior to his junior year, earned the first CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honor of his career earlier this season.

Nordlie joins Billy McHugh as a repeat honoree on the first team, also having notched the accolade a season ago. The Roscoe, Ill. native tied for second on the team in caused turnovers with six, and was third on the team with 17 ground balls. Nordlie, a team co-captain, added an assist for one point in CCIW play.

Timothy McHugh collects his second consecutive First Team All-CCIW honor after orchestrating the offense all season. He led the Titans with 27 points aided by a team-high 17 assists, while his 10 goals sat second. The junior also tallied 10 ground balls, and notched one caused turnover across five games. Timothy McHugh led the CCIW with an average of 3.40 assists per set, nearly double of the next average, while his 5.40 points per game was good for third, and his two goals per game tied for ninth. The Orland Park, Ill. native earned CCIW Offensive Player of the Week honors once this season.

A Second Team All-CCIW honoree in 2024, Dretzka elevated to the first team to cap off his career. He finished second on the team in points and assists with 21 and eight, respectively, while his 13 goals were a team-high. The senior scooped up six ground balls to pad his stat line. Dretzka's 2.60 goals per game average in conference contests ranked fourth in the league, while he finished fifth in assists per game (1.60) and points per game (4.20).

Landing on the second team, Rocco reels in his first career all-conference honor. The senior faceoff man led the team with 24 ground balls and 38 faceoff wins during CCIW contests. Going 38-of-67 at the X, Rocco notched a .567 win percentage, good for ninth in the league. His average of 4.60 ground balls per game ranked sixth in the conference.

Illinois Wesleyan earned the No. 3 seed in the CCIW Tournament, and enters Wednesday's semifinal bout against second-seeded Carthage College with a record of 10-6 overall, 3-2 in league play. The Titans travel to Kenosha, Wis. for a 7:30 p.m. start April 29.
