Men’s Tennis Opens Week Against Elmhurst and Millikin

Titans take on Bluejays Monday, April 20, travel to Millikin Tuesday, April 21

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team begins the final week of regular season play at home against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Elmhurst University, Monday, April, 20, before traveling to Millikin University Tuesday, April 21. First serve from Evergreen Racquet Club Monday is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., while Tuesday's action will kick off at 3:30 p.m.

IWU (8-8, 0-4 CCIW) most recently fell to Augustana College. Senior Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter) earned the lone IWU win with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 victory over Santiago Diaz at No. 1 singles. 

Elmhurst sits at 0-7 overall and 0-6 in league play, most recently falling to Carthage College 7-0, Friday, April 17. The Titans have won the last five over the Blue Jays. In the last meeting April 5, 2025, IWU blanked EU, 7-0. The Green and White earned doubles wins from the tandems of then-junior Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) and then-senior Ryan McCoy, then-junior Griffin Hammond (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora) and then-sophomore Thad Dillow (Effingham, Ill.-Effingham). Then-sophomore Chase Tomecki (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) and then-junior Sebastian Rasquin (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) wrapped up the sweep at No. 3 singles. Turnbull, Vigneri, McCoy, Dillow, Hammond, and Tomecki also earned singles wins to secure the 7-0 victory. 

The Big Blue (13-7, 2-0 CCIW) dropped their last two matches, falling to Augustana and Greenville University, 6-1 and 5-2, respectively. IWU and MU split the last two meetings with the Titans winning , 6-3, in Decatur April 6, 2024, and Millikin winning 6-1, April 16, 2025. Illinois Wesleyan earned singles wins from Turnbull, Hammond, and then-junior Zeke Cross after sweeping the doubles competition.

First serve against EU Monday is slated for 4:30 p.m., while the battle against the Big Blue Tuesday will begin at 3:30 p.m. Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon the completion of the match.
